Best Generation Revived III: Generation of Intelligence, Generation of Excellence, 14/12/13, Part 2:

- Humility is a start for knowledge.

It is not for a human [prophet] that Allah should give him the Scripture and authority and prophethood and then he would say to the people, "Be servants to me rather than Allah ," but [instead, he would say], "Be pious scholars of the Lord (Rabbaniyyin) because of what you have taught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied."

Sheikh Salman 'Awdah says in his book titled 'Kunu Rabbaniyyin', Rabbaniyyin means:
'Ulama’ (knowledgeable), Hukama’ (people of wisdom) and Hulama' (those who think rationally)

- Ishlaah: Continuous struggle to attain perfection.
It is made up of:
1. Amr Ma'ruf & Nahy Munkar (Enjoining Good & Forbidding Evil)
2. Istiqamah (Conscientious)
3. Ihsan (Excellence)

-Fiqh is not only about rulings. It include:
1. Al-Wahy-Revelation (Al-Quran & As-Sunnah)
2. Al-'Aql- Rationale
3. Al-Waqi'-Reality ('Urf & 'Adah)

-Huquq al-'Ilm (Our responsibilities towards 'Ilm)
1. Acquire
2. Practise
3. Benefit (improve self & others)

Beneficial ‘ilm is that which benefit humanity, change self and others for the better. Our ‘Ulama have been seeking ‘ilm to benefit themselves and the ummah. For example, al-Kindi did a research on music (not musical instruments eg. Ma’azif, Thorb etc) and how it could help patients, music therapy etc. All beneficial knowledge (‘ilm) emanate from Allah s.w.t.. In Islam, there is no secularization of knowledge.
