Learning Point: Ask about the things that are happening around you, be curious!
The Prophet would often draw Ibn Abbas as a child close to him, pat him on the shoulder, embrace him and pray for him. One of his supplications for him is:
Learning Point: Rasulullah s.a.w. and the sahabah r.a. used to make lots of du'a for the young. We should emulate their practice. We have to make lots of du’a for children and our younger ones. He also used to touch, hold, hug, pat the younger ones on their shoulders when talking to them or advising them. We should revive these practices and do the same.
- Ibn Umar tries to emulate every single thing done by Rasulullah s.a.w, including sitting/resting under the same tree that the Prophet s.a.w. went to. Ibn Umar does not only memorise 'ilm, he also put it into context.
Learning Point: We have to understand the context that we are living in and contextualize ‘ilm that we have acquired.
